So Long Friends.... =.(

A quick Overview

I feel I did fairly well on my presentation, although there were a few complications, which were technical, I was fairly prepared. I gave great description, and I could tell my audience left with a great deal of knowledge of beauty thanks to me. If someone were to ask me if I would like to redo my project I wouldn’t change or do anything differently.

Chats with coach $$$$

This week during my chat with coach, we discussed the many different things that are important in ending my senior year. For instance, my project is quickly approaching as the year comes to an end, and I am still piecing together my presentation. I’ve learned so much it’s hard for me to get it in all in 45 mins, but I know I can do it. Next we discuss college, as he and I both were calculating how much money his daughter and I are coming out of pocket for college. When you are young you don’t really think about that part of college, and I am starting to wish I did. All in all we accomplished a lot, Thanks Coach J

Trees && Hair

This week we took an observing trip to Lindenwold Park, and tried to see how nature could fit into our projects. While walking I realized that trees and hair are similar in more ways than we may think. For example, trees grow leaves and branches from the root, hair grows from the root. If trees where hair they would have many split ends lol. Also, just like natural, healthy hair, tree leaves flow with the wind. Many wouldn’t think of theses relations, it takes much concentration to come up with.

Field Trip

This week’s field trip wasn’t as interesting as normal, but however I got to watch a television show called Beverly Hills Fabulous. I originally didn’t catch on to the show but, within 5 mins I grasped it, it takes place in one the highest recommended salon in American, ran by Elgin Charles one of the best in the business. They are the life in such a fabulous salon, the fights and tear, the happiness and joy from hairstylist and costumers as they are transformed. I defiantly will continue to watch this show for it seems to be more to the business and I could lean from it.

My choice: Wig saves a jersey woman during a robbery

According to FBI reports, a New Jersey woman wiggled out of her full wig when a robber grabbed her by the hair in attempt to use her as hostage.

I read this on this blog site I read, and found it very funny. A man attempted to pull a woman by her hair and hold her hostage, what he didn’t know was she would get away since it wasn’t rooted to her hair. I find this very funny because if I was the robber I wouldn’t know if to be mad or laugh, and for the woman, I’m sure she’s happy to have that extra accessory on that day.



Hair Don'ts

You every wonder how people get hair plugs? Well I have always wanted to under stand this procedure, and this week I got to witness it in my aunt's salon. Now although these weren’t the plugs injected into the scalp, it was close enough and I enjoyed watching. With a thick glue plug type strips are hot glued the strands of hair, and last a very long time; this is know as infusions. A lot of celebrities use this method as well, and although this can run a few hundred, it’s not the best for your hair. My aunt informed me it burns out your hair, and damages the scalp; and causes your hair growth to slow down. So if you are attempting to use this method, and want hair in the future, you may want to rethink your decision.

Final Farewell =.(

This week I was inducted in to the National Thespian Society, and it was a wonderful experience. Although the play has been over for months, I continue to keep contact with those friends I met during the play, and the nice things they had to say touch me deeply. This was also a wake up call, that my time in high school is slowly come to a close, and although I can’t wait to graduate, I will miss many things and people in my school. This year has truly been on of the funniest years of my high school career, from meeting new people, to doing and trying things I never would find myself doing. This is a year that deserves a lovely farewell.

Connection

Lately I have been working on my research paper, and this comparison I keep thinking of continues to play in my head. A person and their look is like a artists and his canvas, it couldn’t be any clearer. When a painter paints, he uses his surroundings as his inspiration, as well as his feelings. When a person or makeup artist creates a look they take what’s in style, the atmosphere and how the person should feel and creating a master piece. Each person is a work of art to themselves, hence proving my statement to be true. =)

My Choice "Senioritis"

As I rap this week up, I’ve looked back and thought about how I could have done better on a lot of my exams. I played a slacker role in this weeks quarterly exams, not studying for any of them. This isn’t usual for me, I like to pride myself on my schoolwork, but I feel I am coming down with  Senioritis. As June slowly approaches, I don’t feel like working anymore, and I know this is something that should be fixed quickly. So seniors beware of the Senioritis is in the air.

Field Trip "BaldHead"

This week while on my mini field trip, I listened in on a conversation that I found to be a trending topic now a days. A young lady, with a full head of thick short hair was called “bald head” in my aunts shop, and it set a nerve off.  She began to talk about what “bald head” actually was saying “ Just because someone’s hair is short, does not mean she is bald, she simply has short hair. A person with short, thick hair actually would have more hair than the heads I do all the time. Yes, a woman may have long hair but it is usually losing edges, have damaged scalps, or ect. Young ladies need to realize, good hair isn’t always just long hair, it can be as simple as a short do that tramples over long, thin hair.” I agree with her 100 % I’m tired of people thinking short hair means you are bald, its just another style, and it is just a beautiful as long hair. Think about it ladies :)

Chats With Coach ^__^

This week's chat with coach was by far the most beatifically to me. (not saying the others were not)I had been complaining about Mr.Abrams not being satisfied with my thesis's, when coach said these words to me,"If you're not happy with your thesis, the paper is going to be crap, so you have to fight for what you want to write."
In life people are going to disagree with what you pitch to them, but if you feel strongly about it you must do all you can to prove them wrong. So with that being said I am going to stick with my working thesis, and just work a little harder to persuade Mr. Abrams to see my vision.

Chats with Coach ^__^ [6]

This week’s chat with coach went good as it always does. We talked about what’s going on with my life, and how I pushing toward graduation, no longer fearing the tap. At the end of our meeting, coach gave me a personal quote, as he always does; that I feel will push me to work a little harder. “80 % of the people you meet are lazy. If you are willing to be part of the 20 % you’ll be good. If you are willing to push yourself and be part of the 10% you will be great.” I really sat and thought about this when I got home later. I know that I am at a good point in the year, and will graduate with descent grades but, I can do better, and graduate knowing I gave my all. Many don think about pushing to be great, and that is why foreigner are taking over all the higher paying jobs now I believe.  We rather go to school to be a lower rank, like a LPN nurse, instead of going to school for a few more years and becoming a doctor or even an RN. If we keep this trend going, America will no longer be the most power nation. You have to push that extra mile to be the best, and that goes for anything you do in your life. NEVER SETTLE FOR JUST ENOUGH.

Lets Get Going ! [field trip 5]

This week I decided to switch it up, instead of visiting my sponsor I helped my aunt prepare for her hair competition. When you’re at these shows you don’t think of what’s going on behind the curtain, and I can tell you it’s a lot going on back there. As my aunt put it there are three key elements to a perfect performance: style, creativity, and skill. What she means by that is, you must think deeply about design you’re going to do, how you’re going to do it, and how to spice up your presentation to the judges. It sort of reminded me of Mr. Wellington said about time. This is your name on the line, you would hand your boss crap, so why give your audience it? These are potential costumers you could be receiving, and if you give them you best work, they’ll give you their money.It seemed to be another eye opener for me this week, and I enjoyed watching my auntie do what she does best.

Is it worth the time? [my choice 6]

This week we had a visitor at our school, who I felt opened my eyes to a lot; Mr. Anthony Wellington, a musician from the D.C area. He’s no big superstar, but he couldn’t be more of a great musician in my opinion. Everything he spoke about showed his passion about music, and that is important when listening to a speaker. If I don’t feel their passion it’s just another person talking to me, but with Mr. Wellington I could tell he meant everything he said. He also said a quote that I will take with me in life “You can get money back, but you can never get back the time you put into something. So you must really have a passion for what you do.” I never thought about that when I do things, but as my week went  on I started to point out things that I spend time on that really do deserve it. So, in life I’m going to think about what I am about to do, and ask myself Is It worth my time?

Let’s try something new! [Connection 6]

Chris brown isn’t the only one trying out new looks, this week I had the privilege to convert Mr. Parker ‘s look “golden”. His look is already unique, but he decided to change his hair to a dynamic color, blonde. I never dyed a males hair before this was a first for me, but I have to say it came out quite nice, if I may say so myself. I noticed a slight difference between male behavior and female behavior while they are getting things, such as their hair dyed, done. Females are use to the preparation of hair care and the time it takes for things to process, Mr. Parker on the other hand was a bit squirmish, and ready to take out the dye. I assume since females normally start grooming processes when they are you, it comes as a second nature when we are getting things done, to wait patiently. There’s definitely difference between doing a males hair over a females, though it all comes out equally nice and joyful.

Chats with Coach "The Tap" [5]

This week’s talk with the coach, we talked about the scary” tap”, all seniors fear at the end of the year. I was unaware of what that “tap” was, so the coach educated me on the scare. At the end of the year, during graduation practice, coach will tap certain seniors on the shoulder letting them know they will not be walking in graduation. This is a very upsetting thing, and gave me a wakeup call, that I need to get myself together, because graduation is close and I don’t want the “tap”. So I’m going to try to push myself a little harder, in hopes to avoid the curse. Thanks coach you’re the best =)

The Greatest Experience [connection 5]

Over my senior I have tried a lot of new things, just to say I did it in high school but, my greatest experience would have to be going out for the play. When I first went out for it I just did it say I did it, but I can honestly I left with the biggest mark of love on my heart. I met and became friends with people I would probably never have talked to in school, if I seen them in the halls. Of all the people I will miss, I will miss my bird girls = (. The whole cast formed a bond, but I think the bird girls was the strongest of all, from our little singing moment, to our goof session, to praying for our sick birdies. We built a sisterhood and that would be my most memorable thing of my senior year birdies. I love you guys !!!

And Oh What a Trip ! [sponsor visit 4]

This week’s trip wasn’t as fancy as the rest, but I did learn a new trick in weaving. When I weave my own hair I normally braid my hair straight back and leave out my edges, this isn’t the way to do it if you plan on pulling your hair up and down. You are to braid your hair in a beehive, then sew the tracks around it, then when you reach the top you bring it around the way you wish the hair to lay.

I took the technique and used it on my hair and I find it much easier to pull my hair up. I love my visits at the salon, I feel like my skills increase every time, like a free beauty school. Thanks Senior Project for the free class. ^_^

Morals Vs. Legal [my choice 5]

Over the past week there has been so much controversy about Natalie Munroe, a Philadelphia teacher who posted a blog reflecting her experience with kids she’s taught over the years. In her blog she doesn’t name the names of the students or the school she is talking about, she is simply expressing her feelings about them. There were many offended by this causing here to be suspended from her job, but this isn’t the worst to come, there’s even talk of firing her.

Now, I understand that teachers take on a role as a public figure, when they take he job, but I don’t think her actions are fire worthy. She’s a young teacher and still has a lot to learn, so instead of firing her they could sit and talk with her explaining why she’s wrong in their eyes. Because, legally she did nothing wrong, its in the eyes of the public she’s at fault, and personally if feel that’s unfair; everyone makes mistakes, that how we learn.

I think American put there selves on to high of a pedestal, who are we to judge this woman and ruin her life over something so simple? The real truth is, the parents know there kids are a splitting image of what she wrote, and they are embarrassed. Instead of taking their anger out on her, maybe they should help their children become more respectable humans because, I’m sure this lady isn’t the only one to say or feel this way.

No Chat with Coach =( (mentor 3)

This week I did not get to have a full discussion with my mentor, due to my busy schedule. However, I did see him through out the week and spoke briefly. I have to learn how to plan out my week a little better; I’ve realized I didn’t do a lot of this I should have. This year is quickly coming to an end and I just hope I can get it together in time.
